I have been scammed by an internet fraud, can anyone advise me what to do?

Written on April 1, 2009 – 9:17 am | by admin

I have placed an order online in mid-July, I was first told the delivery time is 2 to 3 weeks. After about 4 weeks, I was told to wait for another month due to backorder. After waiting for almost 2 months, I requested for a full-refund, as I have never received my shipment. And they told me that I have to wait for 2 weeks for refund. So I waited, as it sounds reasonable. But I still never receive my refund, so I file a dispute with my credit card. And the credit card turned down my request, as I filed the dispute after 60 days time period since the amount has been charged to my account. I went through Better Business Bureau, but the case is closed too, since the merchant told BBB that he will refund my money. I seem running into dead end when seeking for help.

Can anyone please advise me what I can do at this point?

Why do retailers have rules that counter act credit card companies rules?

Written on April 1, 2009 – 2:48 am | by admin

why do companies ask for id’s , why do some stores charge surchages on credit and debit purchases and minimum and maximum purchase amounts

some credit card merchant account rules say that you cant do these things no matter and they state that all companies and governments must listen to there merchant rules,
my thing why even accept them if you cant follow their rules

like the surcharges companies charge to consumers so they dont have to pay the fee, if they couldnt afford the fee they shouldnt accept credit cards
just like people dont buy what you cant afford businesses should do the same, do accept what you cant afford

Does an online shopper have any recourse if they don’t receive their order?

Written on March 31, 2009 – 10:12 am | by admin

Five weeks ago I ordered 2 bottles of indoor tanning lotion from www.bestanning.com. Five days after ordering my bank account was debited over $40 for the lotion and shipping. The site said most orders were shipped in 48 hours, so I emailed them because the link they sent with the order confirmation that was supposed to show the order status didn’t work. I got a reply right away saying the order was being processed and that I should receive it the following week. So I waited. The web site stated that Internet policy is that they have 30 days to ship an order. After 30 days had passed, I emailed them again asking about my order again. I said that I either wanted my lotion or want my money back. No response. What can I do at this point? Is there a place to make a complaint? The company is supposed to be a Yahoo merchant, whatever that means. I have done quite a bit of online shopping and I have never had anything like this happen before! Can anyone help?

First Farmer Merchants or Bank of America?

Written on March 31, 2009 – 6:46 am | by admin

I want to open a checking account. Both of these banks have free checking accounts and everything is pretty much the same but I just wanted to know other people’s opinion about these banks…

Credit Card Fraud- What to do?

Written on March 30, 2009 – 12:41 pm | by admin

Greetings all,
I recently noticed a few charges that did not look right on my Visa debit card. When I noticed the balance was off, I looked at the summary of charges online. There were charges from intelius (~70), USA people search (~60), and giftcertificates.com (~300). I called my bank and they are investigating the charges and credited my account back.

I then checked my other credit cards and found another Visa card had ~800$ balance, which is always at zero. I called them up and they got rid of the fraudelent charges as well. These charges were to giftcertificates.com, western union and moneygram.

I filed a police report, which basically did nothing. My question to everyone out there is what do I do? I realize I was credited back for the charges, but I’d like to get the SOB that did this. The merchants arent cooperating with providing any information on the orders, has anyone dealt with this before!?
Thanks guys, both cards have been cancelled and reissued with different numbers. My big concern is the second Visa card, I have not used the card in 6+ months and it was paid in full, and never used it online. Someone must have gotton ALL the information on me from somewhere, I checked my credit report and theres no new accounts opened. Is this a situation for lifelock???!

Closing business bank account?

Written on March 30, 2009 – 11:23 am | by admin

Specifically, what happens if a business bank account is closed and there is a charge from the credit card payment processing company (merchant account) that debits and deposits to the bank account that’s been closed? Does the bank accept the debit even if the account is closed (ie is there a period of time the bank keeps the account open after request to close)? Do business owners have personal liability for charges from the merchant account holder (specifically merchant esolutions)? For example, if the bank account is closed and there is a chargeback… do they go after the company? The principals?

Assume it is Monday, May 1, the first business day of the month, and you have just been hired?

Written on March 29, 2009 – 4:21 pm | by admin

Assume it is Monday, May 1, the first business day of the month, and you have just been hired
as the accountant for Colo Company, which operates with monthly accounting periods. All of the
company’s accounting work is completed through the end of April and its ledgers show April 30 balances.
During your first month on the job, the company experiences the following transactions and
events (terms for all its credit sales are 210, n30 unless stated differently):
May 1 Issued Check No. 3410 to SP Management Co. in payment of the May rent, $3,710. (Use
two lines to record the transaction. Charge 80% of the rent to Rent Expense—Selling Space
and the balance to Rent Expense—Office Space.)
2 Sold merchandise on credit to Hensel Company, Invoice No. 8785, for $6,100 (cost is $4,100).
2 Issued a $175 credit memorandum to Knox, Inc., for defective (worthless) merchandise sold
on April 28 and returned for credit. The total selling price (gross) was $4,725.
3 Received a $798 credit memorandum from Peyton Products for the return of merchandise
purchased on April 29.
4 Purchased the following on credit from Gear Supply Co.: merchandise, $37,072; store supplies,
$574; and office supplies, $83. Invoice dated May 4, terms n10 EOM.5 Received payment from Knox, Inc., for the balance from the April 28 sale less the May 2
return and the discount.
8 Issued Check No. 3411 to Peyton Products to pay for the $7,098 of merchandise purchased
on April 29 less the May 3 return and a 2% discount.
9 Sold store supplies to the merchant next door at their cost of $350 cash.
10 Purchased $4,074 of office equipment on credit from Gear Supply Co., invoice dated May
10, terms n10 EOM.
11 Received payment from Hensel Company for the May 2 sale less the discount.
11 Purchased $8,800 of merchandise from Garcia, Inc., invoice dated May 10, terms 210,
n30.
12 Received an $854 credit memorandum from Gear Supply Co. for the return of defective office
equipment received on May 10.
15 Issued Check No. 3412, payable to Payroll, in payment of sales salaries, $5,320, and office
salaries, $3,150. Cashed the check and paid the employees.
15 Cash sales for the first half of the month are $59,220 (cost is $38,200). (Cash sales are
recorded daily but are recorded only twice here to reduce repetitive entries.)
15 Post to the customer and creditor accounts. Also post individual items that are not included
in column totals at the end of the month to the general ledger accounts. (Such items are
posted daily but are posted only twice each month because they are few in number.)
16 Sold merchandise on credit to Hensel Company, Invoice No. 8786, for $3,990 (cost is
$1,890).
17 Purchased $13,650 of merchandise from Fink Corp., invoice dated May 14, terms 210,

what should i do? merchant threatening to take me to collection agency?

Written on March 29, 2009 – 3:09 am | by admin

i went on a program which was 6500 total called natural hair regrowth institute and i would make monthly payements. i was not getting the proper treatment due to poor service. this includes the owner changing dates on me when i would beable to come in interfering with my work schedule. also a staff member refused to do massages at given times. . i wanted to end the program and the owner agreed to end it with a 1000 dollar return to my credit card. This would leave me paying 5000 total not even going half way into the program. i swiped my card got the 1000 receit but this payment never registered to my account. I tryed countless times contacting him, he refused to answer or return my calls or emails. it was at least 1 month and i never got any return to my card so i disputed these charges. now i got the 1000 back and he says if i dont reverse the charges he will send to collection agency and make me pay everything i owe including 33% of lawyer fees which he said would equate to $6000

Adobe Dreamweaver CS3?

Written on March 28, 2009 – 5:27 am | by admin

I currently have a Yahoo! Merchant Account. I want to know how hard it is to create a professional looking website using dreamweaver CS3. I’ve downloaded the trial, and so far I can make a cheap mickey mouse looking website. I am in the Ecommerce business and it is VERY important to have a professional looking website. I don’t have the money to pay a professional web designer, so I want to know if Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 would be a good investment. I have had some education in C++ and in HTML. Also I have heard that you need Adobe Flash CS3 or Adobe Photoshop to create professional looking web banners and interactive elements, is this true? Is there anything else that is cheaper? Please only honest answers. Thank you.
